A new contract to operate the new Line 84 ferry service for the Stockholm Regional Transport Authority has been won by Serco and its partner Strömma Turism & Sjöfart AB.
The new service, which will run between Strömkajen in Stockholm City and Ålstäket in Värmdö municipality, is due to start in April 2024 and will be managed by the company Djurgårdens Färjetrafik AB (DFAB) which is jointly owned by Serco, international provider of services to governments, and Strömma.
DFAB already operates Line 82, the Djurgårdsfärjorna ferries, between Slussen, Skeppsholmen and Djurgården., transporting more than two million passengers in Stockholm every year.
Commenting on the award, John Whitehurst, Managing Director of Serco’s UK and Europe Transport business, said, “Serco and Strömma are extremely proud of our long-standing relationship with Stockholm Regional Transport Authority, providing these vital ferry services which are important for both local public transport and Stockholm’s tourist sector.
‘We are delighted to have been awarded a new contract for this new ferry service and look forward to delivering the same levels of service to that we have been providing on the Djurgårdsfärjorna ferries.’
