SUSTAINABILITY & WASTE POLICY
Seawork and Mercator Media are fully committed to ensuring that the exhibition is managed and held to the highest standard of sustainability, as well as supporting Big Blue Ocean Cleanup as the event’s environmental partner. The main exhibition contractor; Showlite has a fully comprehensive sustainability policy and recycles almost all of their build materials.
At Seawork 2026, leading companies will showcase the growing importance of environmental issues in shaping the future, as the UK's multibillion-pound commercial marine industry commits to decarbonisation and achieving a sustainable Ocean Economy.
TOGETHER WE HAVE TAKEN THESE STEPS:
Reducing waste by recycling the majority of exhibition materials and stand graphics, including exhibition carpets, badges and lanyards.
Encouraging all at the exhibition to bring reusable water bottles and refill at the water stations throughout the site.
Ban of single use plastics, choosing environmentally friendly catering options, including no plastic straws and cutlery.
Using carrier bags that are 100% biodegradable and recyceable.
Using LED spotlights that are 80% more efficient than standard spotlights.
Big Blue Ocean Cleanup is an international organisation that envisages healthy oceans and global marine biodiversity, its mission is to drive positive change towards clean oceans that support all marine wildlife and sustainable living.
Event contractors, Showlite, won a prestigious ESSA (Event Supplier and Services Association) award in December 2024 for the Seawork exhibition project.
