Following a highly successful 2025, Griffon Marine, a global leader in specialist marine vessel solutions, is strengthening its senior management team with two significant promotions.

Dan Pountney takes on the newly created role of Commercial Director with Andy Weaver stepping into his shoes as Head of Support.

Dan brings nearly three decades of experience within Griffon Marine and its associated companies, beginning his career as a front-line service engineer with Hovertravel in 1999 after graduating from the University of Portsmouth with a B.Sc. (Hons) in Engineering and Business Management. He subsequently joined Hoverwork Limited in 2002 as a Senior Support Engineer, working with overseas customers and contributing to the design of the BHT range of hovercraft.

Joining Griffon Hoverwork in 2011 as Technical Support Manager, Dan became Head of Technical Support in 2014, supporting customers across 45 countries who operate more than 190 Griffon vessels and providing bespoke through-life support packages.

“I am thrilled to take on the role of Commercial Director,” said Dan. “Griffon Marine had an outstanding 2025, with record contract wins, award recognition, and an exciting business expansion alongside a full rebranding. In this new role, I look forward to building on that momentum and driving our commercial strategy to deliver even greater value for our customers worldwide.”

Andy joined Griffon Hoverwork in 2012 as an Aluminium Fabricator and Welder and progressed through increasingly senior roles, including managing the construction of 12m and 22m crafts, overseeing Ministry of Defence contracts, and serving as Project Management Advisor for a licensed build in India.

As the new Head of Griffon Marine Support, bringing extensive hands-on experience in vessel construction and project management, Andy is able to honour his deep commitment to fostering strong customer relationships.

“I am delighted to step into the role of Head of Support,” said Andy Weaver. “After a highly successful 2025 for Griffon Marine, it’s an exciting time to be leading our support team. I look forward to ensuring our customers continue to receive exceptional service and that every project is delivered to the highest standards.”
