About the Speaker

Mark Russell joined Gard UK in 1996 after serving at sea up to the rank of Chief Officer and following further studies at Solent University. Mark has spent most of his time at Gard handling numerous types of claims and has attended on-site in casualties, including the Hoegh Osaka. In 2010 he was appointed Head of Cargo Claims, having responsibility for dry and liquid cargo claims across all Gard offices. In August 2018, Mark was appointed Managing Director of Gard Hong Kong and in January 2022 he returned to the UK and his role as Head of Cargo Claims in addition to role involving Large Claims Loss Control. Mark represents Gard on various committees within the International Group and is increasingly focused on work to prevent loss.
