Fareham-based transport business BEA Cars is looking to strengthen its links with the maritime industry as it prepares to exhibit at Seawork for the first time.
Established in 2020, the company specialises in airport transfers and corporate travel, serving businesses across the Solent region.
“We've been looking after people in the maritime industry for years," said Sam Wheeler, director of BEA Cars. "Seawork feels like the natural next step for us.
“We understand how often people in this industry travel, and how important it is that everything runs smoothly."
Current customers for BEA Cars include organisations such as International Maritime Employers’ Council (IMEC), Lloyds Register, Jigsaw Marine and Princess Cruises.
Wheeler said the company recognised an opportunity to target this aspect of their business further.
“I wanted to find a specific market to target, and that was the maritime industry," he said.
A key part of BEA Cars’ offering is its booking and dispatch system, which keeps both passengers and the person arranging their journey updated throughout the transfer. Using Chauffeur Drive Systems software, customers receive notifications as their driver sets off and progresses towards collection.
Wheeler said communication was an important consideration for corporate customers, particularly those arranging travel on behalf of colleagues.
BEA Cars has a consistent team of eight local drivers, rather than outsourcing bookings to third-party providers. This allows the company to build relationships with regular customers and offer a more familiar service.
“It is not an outsourced model. It’s a group of eight drivers and our clients get to know us and we almost become part of the team," said Wheeler.
Seawork, for BEA Cars, is an opportunity to showcase their company to a wider maritime audience.
"We really like what we do. We’re good at what we do. I know we can improve on the service people are currently getting," said Wheeler.
Looking ahead, the business hopes to become a preferred transport provider for maritime companies operating in the Solent region.
BEA Cars has also recently acquired a high-end chauffeur service, expanding its offering for customers requiring executive transport.
